A public discussion
To be held at 49 Grange Road, Middlesbrough
(near the Main Post Office, and opposite the Taxi Rank)
on Tuesday September 4th 7 – 9 p.m.
Middlesbrough Council of Faiths has initiated a continuing debate on shared values. We invite anyone interested in exploring these issues to participate with us in these discussions.
The government talks about British values. What are they? Who decides what they are? Can we agree on common values locally?
The world’s great religious teachers, as well as philosophers, writers and thinkers of many different cultures have identified values we admire, and others that we don’t. What are the values we would like to live by, and see widely accepted, in our own area?
From September 2007 to July 2008 there will presentations by members of different religious traditions on their practice and values, on the last Wednesday of each month (not December) at 7.30p.m. in the same building. It will begin with the Practice and Values of Quakers, on Wednesday September 26th.
