There have been Christian communities and places of worship in the Middlesbrough area for well over a thousand years.

The Church of England, the Methodist Church, the Metropolitan Community Church, the Pentecostal Church, the Roman Catholic Church and the Salvation Army are all represented on the Middlesbrough Council of Faiths as is the University of Teesside Chaplaincy.

Other Christian communities in Middlesbrough include;

Baptist, Christadelphian, Free Church of England, Greek Orthodox, Lutheran, Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormons), Pentecostal – Bethesda Prophetic Church (French speaking), Seventh Day Adventist and the United Reformed Church.
